Effluent Treatment Plant is part of Environmental Management Program
of Pakistan Tanners Association (Southern Zone). CETP has the capacity
to treat a total of 42,000 cubic meters of effluents per day and will
serve 170 tanneries of Sector-7A, 8A, 15 and 17 of Korangi Industrial
Area, Karachi. Its design is based on Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket
(UASB) technology along with aerobic post treatment process. The plant
can use domestic wastewater for dilution purposes. A pilot plant of
appropriate capacity is being built for establishing the operational
parameters of the CETP. The plant is speeded over an area of 6
hectare.
OBJECTIVES
